I just realised I haven't posted in four years - I'd like to say it was productive, but life continued as it has since I was about sixteen - caring for my aunt.

However, last year she started having falls and we know how that ends (especially when your carers are themselves not exactly prime specimens, mobility-wise). She entered a care home.

So, instead of being on-call at all times to fill in for all the things my sister (aunt's primary carer) simply can't do - general housework, anything that involved leaving the house - I now have Actual Free Time, instead of every moment primed to help move my aunt, scrub floors or strip the bed.

Progress is slow, but we cleared out her room, my younger sister moved back in (ironically, it was and still would be cheaper for her to live outside the family home, mortgage payments on welfare/aged pension is difficult) and we're in the progress of decluttering the home of fifty years of mild hoarding. I also started classes for medical admin at the local TAFE. I got *really* into Big Finish Doctor Who (the first hundred which are cheap, anyway)

Most importantly (for morale reasons), we got a cat, Jadzia, Our mate who we cat sit for found a kitten in her shed and Jadzia didn't get along with her Noodle at all. We've had her about a year. Noodle, a stray never content to be an inside cat, unfortunately met his inevitable fate (car) a few months ago, so now as we once vicariously cared for Noodle, my mate vicariously cares for Jadzia.

She despises fish, but she's a fiend for dairy, especially sour and whipped cream. Having been cruelly banished from my her room (having the door closed) for trying to take my sour cream noodles, she is currently despondently sticking her arm under the door and flopping sadly.
